I can say I am lucky enough to have met this lovely lady in person, and she is just as sweet and adorable as she appears from this Q+A! Beth came into my salon a few weeks ago for a haircut with me upon recommendation from a mutual friend of ours, through Instagram of course! I love the little photo sharing app for this reason: it has the ability to bring people together when they otherwise may never have crossed paths! I loved chatting with and getting to know her, and I figured everyone else would too, so here she is on Follow Friday! we have plans for a knitting and baking night in the near future, I can't wait!
1 // what have you been listening to lately?
I could hit replay on every song that "JohnnySwim" sings. My heart is always happy listening to their perfect harmonies. I'm also really impressed with “HAIM”. Those 3 sisters really know how to rock, plus their style is top notch.
2 // what inspires you daily?
Inspiration, for me, comes from a mindset of just being thankful. I’m guilty of sometimes putting inspiration in a large box wrapped in being impressed with something. When in reality, inspiration is found in the tiniest and quietest moments in life. I find it walking down the street. I find it admiring the way a building is constructed. I find it hiking in the beautiful Northwest. I’m thankful and with that, I believe comes my inspiration.
3 // what is your favorite part about living in the Seattle area?
My, oh my, where do I even start? The moment I first visited Seattle 7 years ago, I knew I wanted to live here. It took 7 years, but I’m finally here! Seattle is full of such character and life and each day is honestly an adventure, if you let it be. I’m constantly hearing about new coffee shops, restaurants, and hikes to check out. There’s never a dull moment living here. I can drive an hour and be in the mountains, or 20 minutes and put my feet in the salty ocean. This is paradise for me.
4 // if you had to eat any three foods for the rest of your life, what would they be and why?
I am a huge foodie, so I’ll try to narrow it down:
1. A good stone oven pizza with all the veggies and goat cheese that I could pile on, because pizza is my comfort food.
2. A Greek salad is the only salad that I literally never get tired of eating.
3. A salted carmel cheesecake is the perfection of salty and sweet. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
5 // who are your role models, who do you look up to in your life?
Back in college, I had this professor who literally marked me in the most influential way. She is a world traveler who has a heart for the hurting people in war stricken countries. Her curiosity and affection for people and their stories reaches into the states as well. The life she lives and kindheartedness she has for others leaves me in awe to this day. She isn’t able to have children biologically, because of this, she and her husband made the decision to adopt two small boys. The ability to love the world like she does is praiseworthy.
6 // if you were a tree, what kind would you be and where would you plant yourself?
I would be an Oak tree, because it experiences every season and I would plant myself on top of a lonely hill.
7 // how do you like your coffee? do you like coffee?
Coffee is my love language. I like it with a splash of creamer and 1 packet of Splenda. I will drink it black on certain occasions, but it has to be really good coffee to do so.
8 // where do you see yourself in five years, personally and professionally?
Personally, I would love to be married in 5 years, but I’m in no rush. ( :
Professionally, owning my own photography business by then and being successful with that would be ideal! Photography is my first passion, so I really hope to be somewhere with that in the next 5 years.
9 // what are your favorite things to do in your free time? Hobbies?
I love hiking and just getting out into nature. On just about any day off I have I’m planning some kind of outing, whether that’s hiking or going into the city. Does editing photos count as a hobby? ( : I do a lot of that and I love crocheting.
10 // what is a message you would like to share with the world?
Be confident in who you are! Life is too short to waste it on wishing you looked like someone else, or had cooler hair. Spend time loving others, listening to those who need an ear to hear them, and just live life with an assurance knowing you’re one of a kind and created with purpose!
