make-up monday // gold & glittery classic holiday tutorial!

winter holidays = red lips. sometimes I think it's a little cliche, but there truly is no better time for ANYONE to rock a bold, red lip than holidays falling between November and January 1st! today, I'm showing you my take on a classic and classy holiday makeup look, using nearly ALL inexpensive drugstore products! this look is easy to take from day-to-night as well, if you're leaving work and need to bump up the glam in a pinch!

products I used:

  1. Revlon Colorstay in Nude
  2. ELF long-lasting cream eyeshadow in Gold
  3. Nyx Glitter Liner in Gold
  4. Revlon Skinny Liquid Liner in Black
  5. Nyx eyebrow kit in Blonde
  6. ELF concealer/highlight duo in Fair
  7. Physician's Formula highlight powder in Light
  8. MAC paint pot in Bare Study
  9. AVEDA bronzer in Bronze Glow
  10. Laura Mercier loose mineral powder in Tender Rose
  11. Nyx lipstick in Chaos
  12. L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara in Black

{this look consists of warm tones of gold, but if you have cool blue or gray eyes, are wearing a silver dress, or just don't like gold, use silver glitter and shadows in the same way!}

let's begin!

1 // I applied the foundation and then set it with the loose mineral powder, all over my face for a flawless finish and concealed under my eyes with the concealer, not using the highlighter end. the base is finished!

2 // I then filled in my brows using the brow kit, if you haven't seen how I do my eyebrows, you can see the post I did --> here! I also contoured using the bronzer just under my cheekbones, and around my hairline and jawline. then applied the highlight powder on top of my cheekbones, brow bone, and down the bridge of my nose.

3 // I then applied the paint pot as an eyeshadow base all over my lids, from the lash line all the way to my brow bone and across to the inner corner. this creates a clean canvas for the shadows we will be applying next.

4 // next I applied the cream gold shadow over my lid, but concentrating it only up until the crease. blend the edges slightly. I forgot to show this product, but I used a taupey-gray eyeshadow to blend into the crease and create some depth and definition. just make sure the gray is not too cool toned and has more of a warm undertone to blend with the golds.

5 // this is the fun part... GOLD GLITTER! I applied this gold glitter liner under my bottom lashes and in the inner corner of my eye. be careful to not apply this too close to your eye ball, or it could really hurt! feel free to place it wherever you like, just keep in mind it dries up slightly hard and could crack from blinking, etc. if you wear it all over your lids.

6 // apply the liquid liner, I did a winged look, but just be creative and wear whatever shape suits you!

7 // add mascara, and of course false lashes if it's appropriate for the occasion [I would say ALL holiday parties classify as lash-appropriate!] the ones I used here are the Ardell Wispies.

8 // last step is red lips and you're done! this look can be worn with natural/nude lips as well, maybe just darken up the eyeshadow a bit for a smokier effect!'re finished! this look is so easy to create from your work-day look to the party-- add winged liner, glitter, and red lips, plus lashes if you have the time, and your daytime makeup just became glamorous!

I hope you enjoyed this take on a classic, sparkly glam look, perfect for the holidays! use our hashtag on Instagram #feelandflourish if you try this look, we love to see what you're doing!
