I have been following this incredibly talented, beautiful, Jesus-loving young lady for years now, and her feed continuously inspires me. from her portraits of the people she loves and gorgeous brides to the way she sees this glorious world, I am always inspired by the way she simply captures life. I am astonished by her talent, which surpasses her years and I truly cannot wait to see where she goes from here! Victoria is the sweetest and I know you will think so too. let's meet up in PDX soon, lady!
1 // What inspires you daily?
Aside from Pinterest, Jesus is my favorite "pinner" hands down. ;) The sun & every precious living thing.
2 // How did you begin your career in photography?
When I was twelve, with the help of my gracious older brother I learned his camera inside out. I constantly quizzed myself the meanings & uses of each button on flashcards & with the selflessness of my incredible siblings, I was able to practice my fresh photography skills on them. As I matured, I realized that photography was a big passion of mine. After gaining more experience through second shooting & trying out several different categories of photography, I felt drawn to weddings, lifestyle, & product shooting. By the time I turned fifteen, I had finally purchased my very own camera & shot my first wedding! Ever since then, I have had the chance to travel and work with some of the most amazing clients.
3 // Have you always lived in Portland? What do you love most about living in the City of Roses?
Yes! I am SO blessed to call this city my home. Believe it or not, it took me some time to realize how incredible Portland is. I most definitely took this magical green city for granted.
Question is, what’s there not to love about Portland?! ;) The scenery, the weather (yes, the rain included ;) & I don’t even own an umbrella), my fellow portlandians, all the antique/thrift shops as well as all the unique coffee shops!
Here’s a list of a few of my favorite coffee shops if you ever happen to be passing through Portland.
-Ace Hotel/Stumptown Coffee // Write anonymous letters & store them for strangers to read in the lounging area upstairs.
-Good Coffee // The name says it all.
-Cathedral Coffee // Next to the famous St Johns Bridge! Peaceful & the coffee is delicious.
-Coava // Every hipster ever has probably been here. ;)
-Pix // Mouth-watering Hazelnut Lattes with chunks of melted hazelnut & right next the cutest food cafe that takes you straight to Europe.
-Nuvrei // Super small but has the most delicious pastries.
-Case Study // Yummy coffee & near a street I like to think looks like Paris, although, I've never been to Paris.
4 // Your singing voice is so beautiful! Tell us about your music:
Thank you! All the glory belongs to Jesus! Writing & recording music is secretly my biggest passion. Music is a way for me to share what’s on my heart and inspire others.
5 // What’s the best piece of advice ever given to you?
Before my grandma passed, she would constantly teach me the importance of selflessness. She would say, “For every day you’re blessed to wake up to, do something for someone. If by the end of the day you haven’t done something for someone, you’ve just wasted a day.”
6 // If you had to eat 3 foods the rest of your life, what would they be?
Sushi, Pad Thai, & chocolate please. ;)
7 // What is your favorite verse or scripture, what does it mean you/how does it apply to your life?
1 Corinthians 15:41 // “The sun is glorious in one way, the moon is glorious in another way, & the stars are glorious in their own way; for one star differs from & surpasses another in its beauty & brilliance.”
God has created us to be different from one another; & He’s done it on purpose. We are all born with different temperaments, physical features, fingerprints, gifts/abilities, and etc. Our goal should be to find out what we’re good at & then throw ourselves wholeheartedly into it. Secure people who know God loves them & has a plan for them are not threatened by the abilities of others. When I stand before God, He will not ask me why I wasn't like my pastor or my best friend. I don't want to hear Him say, "Why weren't you Victoria Mulyar?" I want to hear Him say, "Well done, good & faithful servant."
8 // Where do you see yourself in 5 years personally and professionally?
As an aspiring artist, I see myself continuing professional photography, owning a personal creative/work studio, coming out with a music album, & traveling across the globe.
9 // Describe your ideal/perfect weekend or day off from beginning to end:
Wake up before sunrise, grab a cup of coffee, drive out somewhere to watch the sunrise, dance like no one’s watching, & then end my day watching the sunset with those dear to me.
10 // What is the message you would love to share with the world?!
Focus on your voice and what makes you different. If you’re an aspiring artist, like myself, remember the most important thing isn’t knowing how to do photography, creative design, music, etc. the “right” way, it’s about who you are, what you have to say, and how you can say it in a visually different way that expresses who YOU are. Place all your trust in Christ to lead you, be faithful, & always know that you are valuable & one of a kind. Don’t form your identity through labels, because you are more than that; you are fearfully & wonderfully made.
